For many, the community college route is a great way to get an Associate's Degree in the field they are pursuing or an excellent way to get a start on the Bachelor's Degree at a 4 year university. The new Northwest Arkansas Community College campus will give Washington County students, 40% of NWACC's student body, a much closer and less traffic riddled option beginning the first of next year. NWACC currently has multiple buildings spread out around Washington County that they will bring under one roof next door to Arvest Ballpark.

Last week I toured the facility and was impressed by the design standards upheld in the new Springdale Overlay District and the welcoming and inviting color palette used throughout the building. The new campus sits on 20 acres just West of Gene George Boulevard and on the South side of Watkins Avenue. The building is equipped with many multi-use spaces and can serve as many as 2,000 students at its current size with room for expansion in the future. The new campus will offer current general education classes as well as a program with a primary focus on nursing, where a major shortage exists in Northwest Arkansas.

For those looking for meeting or event space they have built a room with beautiful views of the still remaining countryside to the South. It seats up to 142 people and has a hot and cold kitchen and prep area for catering companies or party organizers to use. Throughout the building you will find multi-level seating with outlets and USB for students and their technology to be able to work at every turn. Classes will be available at the rate of $135/credit hour. An excellent rate for higher education available to today's students. The new campus is slated to open for the Spring semester in January with most of its offerings available and the full array of classes available by this coming Fall.
