Criminal Justice and City Hall Building
Slated for August Finish
A trip down Huntsville just to the East of 71B will take you directly by a
site with rising concrete towers and sprawling steel. The project
coming to fruition is Phase 1 of the new Criminal Justice and
Administrative Building. This project was approved by voters in the
2018 Bond Program and is slated for completion sometime around
August of this year.
In 2016 the City of Springdale received a $3.32 million Design
Excellence Grant from the Walton Family Foundation. In May of 2017
the city approved a contract with Duvall Decker Architects out of
Jackson, MS. A few months later the city council approved a
construction management contract with Springdale based Milestone
Construction.
The Criminal Justice and Administration buildings will be adjoined. The
Criminal Justice Building will house the Police Department, Information
Systems, Criminal Investigation Division, City Attorney's Office, and
District Court. The Administration Building will house current
departments plus Community Engagement and the Building
Department. The new building will make it easier for residents to
access City services.
Phase 2 is set to begin upon completion of Phase 1 and should be
completed in late 2021.
