Maple Street Extension Underway
In the last few years Downtown Springdale has been through a rebirth and had renewed interest and investment. Along with that come some of the growing pains of a re-emerging district. Some infrastructure will be re-worked and some removed all together to help bring and move traffic through downtown.

When Tyson opened their new office downtown bringing over 300 employees to the area they added parking to the South of the building. To improve employee safety Meadow Avenue was closed East of the railroad tracks. A barricade was placed in August of last year and the railroad permanently parked trains across the tracks at that intersection. Motorists now must turn left at the intersection and head North to Emma Avenue.

The closing of Meadow left a gaping hole in the need for East-West corridors passing through Downtown Springdale. The city decided the best way to address this was to extend Maple across the railroad tracks and all the way to Park Street. This means you will be able to travel from Pleasant, just West of the library, all the way to Park Street if you so choose. The project gives you access to the Springdale Public Library, Springdale High School, Northwest Medical Center, Fire Station 1 and the Post Office on Holcomb. The Maple Street Extension is a part of the 2018 Bond Program and is expected to be completed later this year.
