On Tuesday the Springdale City Council voted unanimously to appoint
former Councilman Jim Reed to fill the vacant seat left open when
Colby Fulfer moved out of his ward and left open the Ward 1, Seat 2
position. While there were many qualified candidates, some more than
others, Reed was the obvious choice for this moment.
Jim Reed retired as the Construction Manager of the Springdale
School District and chose not to run for re-election for his seat on the
City Council in 2018. Reed previously served on the council for 12
years and was never defeated for his position. In addition, Reed has
state emphatically he will not be running for the seat in November and
those choosing to run will be doing so without the challenge or
advantage of the incumbency.
Mr. Reed has a wealth of knowledge regarding the procedures of the
council and the ongoing bond project and will be an invaluable asset to
the city as we navigate the difficult waters of the COVID-19 crisis. We
are thankful for Mr. Reed's willing ness to serve in the city's time of
need.
